Get emergency alerts on your phone
Manistee County sends emergency notifications and weather alerts through CodeRED, a free service of the Manistee County Sheriff’s Office. Updated sign-up information is coming soon, and we will post it here. Until then, you can call the Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at 231-723-8393 to ask about signing up.
Your cell phone also receives Wireless Emergency Alerts automatically, with no sign-up. They come from the National Weather Service, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children for AMBER Alerts, and state and local officials. They look like a text message but arrive with a distinct sound and vibration. If you have turned them off, you can turn them back on in your phone’s notification settings.
A battery-powered NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts National Weather Service alerts around the clock from the nearest weather office, and it keeps working when the power or cell service is out.
